Toledo Lounge in Adams Morgan in Washington, DC, officially annexed by the mayor of Toledo and visited by many an Ohioan looking for a free drink (you ain't gonna get one unless you can prove you're from Toledo, though), is a home away from home. They have the best jukebox I've ever seen (and it's CDs, not MP3s). It's a dive bar, but I'm a dive bar kind of guy. It has some well calculated quirky-ness, and my girlfriend says the elimination of the mirror in the women's bathroom is pure genius.
Not upscale, nor trashy -- they definitely don't mean "Lounge" in the literal sense. Classic rock tunes. Casual and comfy, but also fun. Being from Toledo (went to Start High School) the Toledo Lounge really is a home away from home. All we need is some Tony Packos on the menu. |
