| Souperb! |
| From: racecars2 |
Before all the hubbub and bubhub, the fast food joints and delivery, this downtown cafeteria was PERFECT!!! Somewhere near the corner of Connecticut and N St., Souperb was replaced a decade ago to make way for more modern fare -- I think there is a club there now.
Always refreshing to be greeted with a smile while coming through the door Souperb was fun in an old world sort of way. Of course, it was a giant somber cavern of a space, but they treated lunchtime business customers like family. Fantastic soups and sandwiches, wonderful salad bar, everything was good and tasty -- the way it was before people lived long enough to know what angioplasty was. Old world prices, too.
My favorite was the over stuffed corned beef sandwich. I'm salivating just writing this. Although I never tried it, I heard that the matzoth ball soup was the best. |
